Marriage is a Covenant, not an agreement

When I asked my wife to marry me, I was asking her to strike covenant with me, a marital covenant. The God we worship, God our Father, put His stamp upon our marital covenant, sealing it with His Name and His Spirit. He, alone, is our Witness. The covenant of marriage we struck has no “back door options”. It is fact. It is real. It endures. It is yesterday, today, and well into each tomorrow.

Covenant is not an agreement. It is not a business deal, nor is it a legal contract. It’s never a “quid pro quo” arrangement, wherein two parties bring to the table their best, but only on the condition that their best is reciprocated with the best of the other, and should either party fail to meet the expectations of the other, the arrangement is off. No. Covenant says, “As for me, I will __________________, even if you do not reciprocate, or uphold your end of this covenant.”

Covenant is never based in emotions of the moment. It is not a false promise made in the heat of passion, nor is it the desperate lip service of a person who wants something, and then loses interest in it once they have it. In a true marital covenant, there is no, “I fell in love with you!”, because if a person believes they can “fall in love”, they can also easily fall out of said love.

Covenant is never established in our human grasp of what we think love really is. The fallacy to believe otherwise is why divorce is so prevalent today.

In this marital covenant, my bride is my first priority. I pray for her, she prays for me, thus we are both covered by the other. I am instructed to love her as Christ loves His Bride, and she is instructed to respect me above all others. I do not wish to be the bride, and she does not wish to be the groom. A brilliantly structured ordering of roles. In my covenant of marriage, my bride and I have equal worth in m Father’s eyes, but vastly different responsibilities according to His will. Remember, marriage this side of Heaven is the prototype of what Christ has with His Bride. However, unlike what Jesus has with us as His Bride, my marital covenant is not forever, but it remains living until the death of myself or my bride.

I have been asked, “So, there’s no way to break this little ‘covenant thing’ you got going on?” Actually, there is a way to break it. One word: Adultery. Adultery means one person has brought another person, not in the marital covenant, into the marital covenant bed. Adultery breaks the covenant. (It can also be readily forgiven, depending on the posture of heart that the person who was cheated on has. But that’s another post for another day.)

In closing, let me reiterate that marriage is more than a legal and taxable institution. It is more than something we do because we are “in love” and “can’t live without” someone else. It is more than any of the knee-jerk reasons most people rely upon.

Marriage is covenant. Trust me on this.

Abortion — NSFW

This is murder:

beheaded-child-resizedThis is abortion-on-demand:

eHJtMG1nMTI=_o_abortion-the-american-holocaustAnyone who supports abortion-on-demand as a “right” and a “choice” owns this.

Do not be deceived. My Father is not mocked. You will reap what you sow, and even now innocent blood condemns you.

To The Bride

1.  Cast down vain imaginations and false ideals that would dare to try and exalt themselves against God our Father. This includes pop-culture theology, and the current flavors-of-the-moment feelgood theologies of liars and frauds.

2.  Seek our Father, run to our King, embrace His Holy Spirit, and do not try to replace an ongoing and personal and covenantal relationship with Him with your doctrines and theology.

3.  Cease in believing that our Father has a scorecard, or a tally that He keeps based on your actions and efforts. He has neither asked, nor told, any of you to “do things for God”, as though your efforts are pivotal to The Big Picture that is His Will. There is nothing He cannot do for Himself, so reject the notion that He needs you to advance His Kingdom. Simply be the you that He wants you to be, and He will handle the rest.

4.  Love The Godhead, love your neighbors, and preach The Gospel in words and in actions. This is The Will of our Father for every single one of us in Christ.

5.  Invite The World into your very lives, not to your churches. Salvation, at it’s core, is relational and generational. The World needs to see this, first and foremost.

6.  Stop quenching my Father’s Spirit due to your levels of theological comfort. The Spirit has an ongoing ministry this side of Heaven. Stop denying Him because you believe He is either “spooky” or “of the devil”. Stop. Our Father is not pleased with that.

7.  Politics, finances, the sins of the world, the machinations of the enemy, and all worldly/temporal anxieties that would hold you hostage need to be cast down, once and for all, as elements of life this side of Heaven that would seek to take your eyes off of The Kingdom. Enough is enough. Our Father is not interested in the governments of mere men; He is interested in the hearts and souls of men. Change the heart of a man, and you change the whole of the man. Be likewise. Arguments only bring stench and decay. Simply present The Truth, and The Truth will defend itself.

8.  Above all things, cling to our Father. Trust in Him. Believe Him. Listen to Him. He is faithful and true. He is more than a bumper sticker, a refrigerator magnet, or a bracelet. He is The LORD, and apart from Him, there is none. He is your Father. Father. Not merely God. Father. This covers every single aspect of His character.

I love you, my family in Christ. Miles and miles might separate us, secrecy might keep us apart, but our Father’s Spirit unites us as family. And at the end of the day, that is enough.

To The World

To The World:

Please lay down your pride, your hatred, your disbelief, and repent. Time is short.

Change your thinking. Look into Jesus. Set aside what you think you know, and listen to what my Father says about Himself.

I am not telling you to change your lifestyle, because your actions cannot reveal my Father to you. I am not telling you to stop what you are doing, and join a local institutional church, because your local institutional church is not the same as my Father’s Kingdom. I am not telling you to run out and buy a Bible, because His Word by itself is not the same as Salvation. I am not telling you that if you start to act like a believer, that that makes you one, because human theater does not fool my Father. Not at all.

I am telling you to change your thinking. Repent. Think on my Father, consider Christ Jesus as Savior. Think. Change your current thinking.

Jesus knows you. He knows the real you. He knows the you that you are when you think no one is watching. He sees your pain. He understands your confusion. He is patient, merciful, and willing to forgive. He will heal your broken heart, and your damaged soul.

My Father wants to be the father you never had. He wants to place His ring upon your finger, His robe upon your back, and to embrace you as His lost child who is now found. He will never abandon you, abuse you, lie to you, belittle you, molest you, or dismiss you. He is the faithful Father so many of you never knew. His is true Fatherhood.

My Father’s Spirit longs to meet you face-to-face. He longs to indwell, to refresh, to redeem, and to empower you, for His heart reflects the perfect will of my Father.

Do not think to yourself that you are too far gone. Do not think to yourself that your sins are too great. The New Covenant was created for people just like you, the perfect door to an eternal and ongoing relationship with God my Father through Jesus the Son and sealed by The Holy Spirit. Consider that no matter how damaged any of us might be, my Father’s salvation of healing is never too little too late. It takes but one breath, one moment, one one-billionth of a second, and His Salvation can be received by you.

If you are reading this, please know that my Father’s Spirit is now going to begin knocking on the door of your heart. It is not too late. My Father’s patience will carry you into forever, if you simply receive the free gift of Salvation through Christ Jesus.

I love you in The Lord, my anonymous online readers. But my love for you is nothing compared to the love my Father has for you, this side of Heaven. He does not hate you. He is waiting for you.

In all things, my Father’s will be done.
